Nigeria Police Academy Concludes IGP Interview, Commends Cadets Ahead of Passing Out Parade

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil–Kano, has successfully concluded the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Interview for cadets of Regular Course 7. The interview, held from October 22 to 25, 2025, marks a critical milestone in the cadets’ transition into full-fledged officers of the Nigeria Police Force. The interview board was led by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Frank Emeka Mba, MNI, head of the Department of Training and Development. DIG Mba’s engagement with the cadets was both evaluative and motivational, as he assessed their readiness for the upcoming Passing Out Parade (POP) and overall suitability for service. In his address, DIG Mba emphasized discipline, professionalism, and continuous self-improvement as core values for modern policing. He warned cadets that misconduct or violations, even at the final stage, could lead to dismissal, underlining the seriousness of their responsibilities. “It is not over until it is over,” he said, reminding them that integrity must be upheld until the very end. Accompanied by the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, and other senior officers, DIG Mba also inspected the cadets’ POP rehearsals on October 25. He expressed admiration for the precision, coordination, and spirit displayed by the cadets. Notably, he commended the inclusion of a female cadet officer in the prestigious Colour Party—a symbol of honour and tradition in police parades—highlighting it as a strong statement of the Force’s commitment to gender inclusion. The Tactical Combat Team also delivered a powerful display, impressing observers with their discipline, combat readiness, and tactical coordination. The IGP Interview remains one of the most vital evaluation steps in the Police Academy’s training process, determining which cadets are ready to serve the nation with competence, courage, and character. The official date for the Passing Out Parade will be announced in due course.
