Tems Launches Mentorship Program to Empower Women in Music

Global star Tems is proving that her influence goes far beyond the charts. The Grammy-winning artist has officially launched the Leading Vibe Initiative (LVI)—a mentorship program designed to support and empower young African women in music. The maiden edition took place in Lagos on August 8–9, where 20 upcoming female talents—from singers and songwriters to producers—were selected for a two-day bootcamp. The program featured hands-on workshops in songwriting, performance, music production, and career development, with sessions led by industry experts including executives from Sony Music Publishing and RCA Records, alongside artists like Sasha P and Bloody Civilian. Participants were not only mentored but also equipped with tools to elevate their craft, gaining access to gear from Native Instruments and software from iZotope—a major boost for creatives aiming to compete globally. Speaking about why she created the initiative, Tems reflected on her own journey: > “There are thousands of young women just like me. I created the Leading Vibe Initiative to support African women in music—those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave.” But Tems isn’t stopping at Lagos. The initiative is set to expand to other African cities, including Nairobi, with a clear mission: to create opportunities, visibility, and networks for women across the continent. With LVI, Tems is making one thing clear: the future of African music is female, powerful, and unstoppable.
