Education Spotlight: UNILAG Graduate Wins Triple Scholarship—a 5.0 CGPA Feat

At its 55th convocation in early 2025, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) celebrated 16,409 graduating students. Among them were two standout achievers: Samuel Badekale and Damilare Haroun Adebakin, both from the Department of Cell Biology & Genetics, who earned flawless 5.0 CGPAs—the highest academic honor possible. Samuel Badekale’s academic story didn’t end at graduation. He was selected—as the only Nigerian and West African—for the esteemed Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Biomembranes, a fully funded program spanning three European universities: Université Côte d’Azur (France), University of Genoa (Italy), and University of Osnabrück (Germany). His post-graduation journey promises cutting-edge exploration across membrane biology, neuroscience, and experimental medicine. These feats are not just academic walkovers—they’re statements. UNILAG joined a select university league as two undergraduates not only mastered their disciplines but earned follow-on study pathways at globally respected institutions.
